Our project expertise and experience covers mediums such as horticulture, music (audio and video), dance, visual art, theatre, web design, and a wide range of sport and recreation activities.
Horticulture
Revegetating 3.6 acres at Mannum (mainly Australian native plants)
Planting a range of Australian natives (with a few introduced species) on undulating land – highly Alkaline sandy loam on a limestone base.
Arts/Music
Infusion Music Event Team (October 2015 to February 2016 with Tutti Arts, Music SA and Adelaide City Council)
A team of young people from diverse backgrounds who are interested in music event opportunities either as performers or producers. Their first challenge was the launch of the 2016 Day of the Song Music Festival. They have since managed music events for Reconciliation Week and the 2016 Day of the Song Festival featuring the Tutti Choirs and world renowned US artists Tony Lindsay and Janice Maxie-Reid.
Sport
3BallSA Basketball Association (2011 to 2019)
Skills and competitive development sessions for emerging basketballers at the Parks Community Centre. Annual 3X3 at the Bay event with Basketball SA.
Arts/Music
Changing Face of Adelaide Project (2013)
Working with local African artist, Hutt Street Precinct, Gilles Street Primary School and Adelaide City Council to create masks that brought to life the rich culture, history and society of the South East corner of Adelaide.
Kids Fringe (2013)
Engaging local African artists to run African mask making workshops for local youth.
Transition Through the Arts (2011)
Giving West & Central African youth the skills, experience, contacts and pathways to peruse education and employment opportunities in music and dance.
Exercise Eat Well (2010)
Working with CALD and other youth from the South West region of Adelaide to identify healthy aspects of nutrition and physical activity brought to South Australia by CALD communities, and developing strategies to encourage other youth to adopt healthy lifestyle practices.
Moving to a Shared Beat (2009 / 2010)
A collaborative project with several African communities using a novel ‘story-dance’ medium, which highlighted intergenerational issues. Incorporated two live performances.
Rhyme Not Crime (2008)
Working with African youth to identify issues that influence anti-social and criminal activities in African youth and using music and rhyme to convey key messages and generate positive change in other youth. Link to video.
